Nice and bright. How did you make the rails? I can see some geometry artifacts happening there. Also theres a bit of black in the window in the second image, possibly we can see past the image plane.

thanx varnished...! well..... i guess u r talking abt the swimming rods....right??
well...i made it with the spline .... ya...i'm getting patches on it coz of radiosity....already the file size is 250 mb....so i didn't increase the meshes...else the file wud have been more heavy..

the black part in the window is coz the image was small & i tilted the viewport to grab the image.... so ...that's the blank part...well...now i've enlarged the plane...

Yeah I dunno man, all I can say is don't use Radiosity? It seems to produce a lot of errors. (psst try to get vray!)

Maybe ask some of your friends if they have a copy of vray or if they could get it for you.

Not really, maybe an overflow drain around the pool, just for the sake of realism.

I had a look around on the net, not all pools have them so I wouldn't bother about it. It's just a drain that goes round the pool and allows all the water that's splashed over the sides to drain away.

okk......i understood it...... one thing.. i want that the sunlight should pass thru water and it should be reflected in the bottom....and in real life it does..... so how can i do it??
shuld i exclude the water or something sort of that??

well i'll post the reference image which i used for making this pool.... u can see in the image that the sunlight passes thru water...
EDIT: by cdballew. Here is the reference image by Magnus Pettersen.

This light phenomenon is called Caustics. I dont know how to do it in standard max, not sure if mental ray can do it or not. But Vray definitely can.

Or you could fake it by applying a texture to the bottom/sides of your pool.

and I must say this is really becoming quite amazing work. You're really progressing.

One thing you could try is adding a displacement map to the water, get it all rippley and wavy.

You'll all note that good_days used the term "reference image" when describing that last image. smile.gif I don't think it's his work. All those crits are still relevant though, perhaps we should email the Magnus Pettersen guy and let him know what we think. He might appreciate it.

You have made a giant leap. looks great. The tiles around the walls, pillars and upper part of the pool really give it a sound architectural, real world look. The plants go a long way too! One thing that I see that still needs attention is the windows, they look kinda cheap for such a rich room. I think it would look nice with French doors instead of windows. Also, I would consider additional/alternative lighting, maybe canned lights on the beams or sconces on the pillars or walls. Lights in the pool itself would be a nice touch too. You know, in case you decide to take a midnight swim with someone. wink.gif

hmmm... eh..! what's all the chaos and confusion going here?? i wrote specifically that i used a " reference image" for making a swimming pool of which the 1st 4 images in the beginning....that's mine. The reference image is also a 3d image made by the respective person,.. Magnus Petterson......! i posted this image just for getting some help regarding the sunlight effect..thru water...!

i hope this time i'm quite clear..!

I don't think anyone was trying to accuse you of anything. It was just a simple matter of miscommunication. When trying to communicate on a board like this it's easy to get the wrong idea. For example, your last post sounds like your being impatient and angry with us for misunderstanding you. That may or may not be the case but when you end sentences in (...!) it sounds like your yelling at us. Just some friendly advicesmile.gif As Steve Martin said the the crits and comments are still relevant. Sorry I can't be of help on the light through the water problem. Keep up the good work.

no cdballew ..... nothing sort of that.......well... i welcome all crits.....and surely it's not yelling.... but trying to make it clear ...... well my method may have been wrong.... & i apologise for that....! and i may say that the way u take the other person's words creates ur view for that person. Now plzz.. end the matter and get back to our real business over here...!

well....what i wanted to know is that how can i pass the sunlight thru water.??...anyone ..cdballew........Steve... varnished ?????

i gave water..the raytrace material for refraction with an amt. of 75., reflection - raytrace ....amt.- 8 and gave a noise map in bump map....and the bump amt. is 15-16 approx.

You've matched the reference really well. Regarding caustics, you could try mental ray caustics but that means setting up all the lighting in mental ray or doing a seperate pass.
you could make a light above the pool with a projector map in it and use a noise map with the levels crunched to simulate the caustic reflections then render a seperate pass with just that light turned on and the water object hidden. then play with layer modes in photoshop. I think what the image needs is more small details like maybe individual tiles with bevelled edges all around the pool rim. maybe some subtle steam rising off the surface and a hot bikini girl on the deck chair for sure..

Try this for your water material.
NOTE: In step one transparency color is almost white.
NOTE: In step four, adjust displacement amount and noise parameters to taste.
