Hi at all.. I have a big problem, i have to make many objects ( armors and weapons for The Elder Scrolls Oblivion game. The question is.. how can i do it with 3ds max version 8? All the objects created for the game are saved in a .nif format and my 3dstudio max, I think doesn't support this format. Maybe the program need a plug-in to create and save and edit .nif object? Where i can find it?

Hi, Here i am, with a new problem.. I have dowloaded Iftool program but there 's still a couple of thing to do to me 3dsmax correctly with this Plug in..: Reading the content of this note introduced with the REadme file of the Plug in tool..

Set the layer value to "NonCollidable", if you want to be able to walk
through your objects, while still being able to activate them.

If your collision mesh comes out deformed, go to the utilities tab,
choose "Reset XForm" and click "Reset Selected". This should fix it.

What is the layer value mentioned in? How can set it "Uncollidable", and, one other question.. Where is the Utilities Tab? Someone can give an example of it? Thanks again

That would be something in the Niftool program, it's not a max setting. There's a FAQ on this page that will answer your question:

In the utilities tab click the nifprops button and it will pop up underneath.

Hi, I have installed niftool on 3dsmax 8, Initially seems that niftool works correctly, but after have dragged the Niftools option from the left list to the right menĂ¹ as explained in the FAQ question page, I have selected, clicking on it, the Niftool utilities from Utilities tab of 3ds max but, the curtain window that appears below show the options as "unchangeable", in practice "not activable" or obscured. I cannot modify the settings of meshes. IS it possible? Maybe i have to create some object in the program (sphere, cube, box ecc..)?

Problem solved for the moment, the menu of the noftools settings (layer value etc.. ) is active when i have imported nif files from a cartel to 3dsmax
For the moments there are no problems but still remain a problem in particular, when i start to work on nif file saved as. max file. Appear when i try to open an advertisment that says some file could be missing, would I try to continue? Click Ok to continue...

Hi, i'm trying to create a new armor set for Oblivion but i have a problems with a command, in particoular let me explain the situation:
I have to modify the polygon and the position of their vertex to create a new form of the helm in particular i want that the front side be more sloping than the rear side cause on the front take place a big metal simbol. For the precision this helm is a Kabuto, e helm of a samuray armor. As I while I was modifyng the position of many vertex, i have erroneously deleted many edges and i want to recreate them and recreate also many near polygons that are disappeard in this error, i have listened that to connect 2 vertex creating an edge is necessary select before a vertex, then the opposite, holding pushed the CTRL button, and press CTRL + SPACEBAR to open a menu' ,different from that appears while pressing only CTRL button, and selecting the option Connect 1, realize the connecting edge. The problem is that i press CTRL Button + SPACEBAR but The menĂ¹ that appears to me is the same to that explained before and the option Connect 1- connect 2 connect 3 there 'sn't! How can I do? Maybe I have to press other combinations of buttons to make a connection? Sorry for my English, I'm Italian and I have a European Keyboard I think..

I want to send you a photo of a kabuto in the way you can understand that i tell you in the previous post but i can't manage to find a way to post it. How i can do it?
I have a problem also with a particular operation: put on a vertical or almost, but curved surface many little objects equal or not, as rectangles or semisphere or cones in a way to realize a real thickness and a really realistic particular of that helm. to be precise is to realize the unions of the high zone of the helm, the " turned upside down cone zone" where the head still inside, and the real form of the neck protection bands.
