Hi everyone, I'm currently working on my second year project.
I planted some trees made with planes+opacity map at the back, it was working fine under no lighting and using default renderer. However as I added Daylight system and using mental Ray, the plane seems to have gone only semi-transparent as shown below.

A few of my tutors are taking sick leave and my classmates weren't able to figure out what's wrong. Please let me know if you need more information or the scene file.

Many thanks smile.gif

Are there any specular highlights on the planes? Make sure they're all turned off. Great tree by the way.

Thank you smile.gif
There weren't any on the planes, after your comment I also tried to turn off all objects' specular highlight, but that didn't work.
I suspect it's something to do with Mr Sun, cause the planes appear "yellow-y", but I can't think of what options under Mr sun would causes this frown.gif

Haha, for a minute there I though you meant Mister Sun like you were giving the sun some sort of anthropomorphic personification. I realise you actually mean mentalray sun. smile.gif

Anyway, I had a crack at opacity mapping a tree onto a plane myself using mr sun and didn't have any problems. Maybe send me the scene file and I'll have a look.

opacity mapping doesnt work with Fog. It looks like theres fog in your scene.
render a z-depth pass without the trees and comp it in.

ok, I had a look - try unchecking the aerial perspective button. This worked for me.

Just a correction to my comment about transparency not working with environment fog.
It does work but you have to tick the exponential check box in the fog parameters.
