Just a little method I discovered that could come in useful. Shows how to line up multiple vertices the 'not so tedious way'.

Video of the problem:

Video of the solution:

Hope it helps. Cheers.

This is going to be so helpful, I always find myself lining up vertices like in the first vid. Can't wait until the need arises again.
Thanks a bunch!

It's a good thing to know! Nice post.
I like to just use the widget and scale a group to line up. This also allows scaling x & y at the same time, with the least amount of settings to change.

Cool post. You can also use this method when unwrapping uvw's, with the "free form mode" tool, found right next to the scale tool.

hey was just passing through, and thought Id note that you don't need to change to the scale and stretch tool, you can use the default uniform scale, tool to achieve the same results, and as isaacg noted you don't need to open the type in transform box, you can just use the gizmo and scale to zero twice. with the gizmo the fist scale to zero maintains the vert's offsets, the second will completely zero out the verts.

Nobodyz - your right click a tool to open the box.
