hi,

i am working on my thesis and need to animate something in max. my structure is basicly a moving grid. so each beam of the grid is conected to the next. so figured out how to make the ik chain working with the pivots in there rotation-knot.

know, i have problems with the parent-children relationship, because working with this system i would need to create a dependency loop (which is not possible).

is there any way of closing a IK chain?

easier: think of a necklace. how would you link all the parts (sticks or something else)together to close the necklace?

thanks

christoph

I'm not sure exactly what your desired animation outcome is. Maybe use expression controllers to drive the objects instead.

Do you need to use IK? What about just a link constraint? Your problem sounds pretty complext, can you post some pics?
